Pomerleau Uses Aconex Field for Ritz-Carlton Montreal Project

Mobile Field Management Solution Speeds Inspections for Faster Project Close-out

MONTREAL--(Marketwired - Jul 23, 2013) - Aconex, provider of the world's most widely used online project collaboration solutions for the construction, infrastructure, power, mining, and oil and gas industries, today announced that Pomerleau, one of the largest builders in Canada, has deployed Aconex Field for the final phase of the Ritz-Carlton Montreal renovation project. With Aconex Field, the Pomerleau team uses iPads on site to capture construction defects and other issues for resolution, re-inspection and close-out.

"Aconex Field is an innovative solution that helps us centralize our project data, streamline our inspection processes and provide a complete record of project completion to the owner," said Eric Lessard, IT director at Pomerleau. "For the hotel phase of the renovation, we used in-house spreadsheets, and it was very time-consuming. We decided to use Aconex for the residential phase of the project. The punch list is complex, and the mobility of the team is essential. Aconex Field is easy to deploy and use on iPads, and we're able to close out issues much more quickly than we had previously."

Known as "La Grande Dame of Sherbrooke Street", the Ritz-Carlton Montreal opened in 1912 and has been renovated for its centennial anniversary. Pomerleau has provided construction services for the conversion of 230 hotel rooms into 130 luxury rooms and suites, and the upgrade of common areas, a restaurant, kitchens, and commercial spaces. Pomerleau has also enlarged the existing facility to include 45 luxury residential condominiums built in accordance with Ritz-Carlton's international standards.

Launched in October 2012, Aconex Field is a mobile and web-based field management solution that enables project teams to capture, analyze, communicate, track, and report issues for faster, more accurate resolution. Users on smartphones or tablets can photograph defects during inspections, mark up the photos, add comments, and assign corrective actions with due dates to the appropriate subcontractors. The solution frees contractors and project managers to focus on project quality rather than tedious administrative tasks, while keeping the team up to date on the status of all items. Aconex Field is available as a standalone product or with the Aconex Online Collaboration Platform, and for iOS or Android devices.

"Aconex Field has generated strong market activity since its launch in late 2012," said Frank Kopas, general manager of the Americas at Aconex. "It extends the value of the Aconex platform to field inspections, improving efficiency and accuracy while reducing risk and cost. The last phase of a project can bog down with punch list checks and re-checks until all work has been signed off, and this delays project close-out and final payments to project participants. Aconex Field provides visibility and control to help speed up this process and ensure successful project delivery."
