San Francisco, CA, Sept. 9, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Twelvefold, a digital marketing platform company that helps brands achieve superior results by using content to target, reach and persuade engaged audiences without the use of cookies, has appointed Jay Budzik as Chief Technology Officer. Jay's extensive experience in information retrieval, data mining, and recommender systems makes him an invaluable resource in the development of Spectrum, Twelvefold's proprietary ad tech platform.
Budzik comes to Twelvefold with a PhD in Computer Science and 11 patents under his belt, as well as an unmatched expertise in unstructured information processing, product development and intellectual property management. Prior to this most recent appointment, he was the Chief Technology Officer at Perfect Market, a leading company offering services to help publishers increase engagement, traffic, and revenue. There, he led the company's research and development efforts; helped attract $15 million in investment from Comcast, Tribune Company, Rustic Canyon Partners, Trinity Ventures, and Idealab; and spearheaded a new product initiative that grew audience to 150M monthly uniques and lead to a fivefold increase in revenue. Before that, Budzik was Founder and CTO of Media River, a company specializing in contextually targeted dynamic display advertising. Budzik also worked as a computer scientist at Northwestern University's Intelligent Information Laboratory, where he co-invented fundamental intellectual property in contextual search.
"Jay's work with Twelvefold began when I recruited him onto the board of directors in 2010," said Dave Hills, CEO of Twelvefold. "His entire body of work has revolved around understanding content at the deepest level, which makes him a perfect fit as our CTO. We designed Spectrum to match the most relevant ads based on content, and there's no one better to help us improve this platform to become the standard in how audiences are targeted online."
Bylines and articles on Budzik's work have appeared in Business Insider, eMedia Vitals, Mediabistro, The Los Angeles Times, USA Today, The Chicago Sun-Times, WGN-TV and L'Ordinateur Individuel. A frequent speaker at industry events, Budzik still acts as advisor to Perfect Market. In addition, he serves on the Board of Trustees of the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy (IMSA), an internationally recognized teaching and learning laboratory, and on the Advisory Board for the Northwestern University Knight News Innovation Lab, a program founded to bring together journalists and computer scientists to accelerate innovation in the news industry.
