Bigger jackpots, guaranteed $1 million prize every draw on new Lotto 6/49!

Starting September 15, 2013, Lotto 6/49 players have more ways to win with a new $1 million prize that's guaranteed to be won on each and every draw, jackpots starting at $5 million, and a new free-play prize for matching just 2 of 6 numbers.

"For the first time in Canadian lotto history, in addition to the main jackpot we're guaranteeing a $1 million prize on each and every draw," said Kevin Gass, Vice President Lottery Gaming, BCLC.

With the new guaranteed $1 million prize and the improved odds, the price of Lotto 6/49 changes to $3 per play from $2. Each $3 play includes a unique number exclusively for the new $1 million prize that is guaranteed to be won each draw. Players are automatically entered into new $1 million prize draw from the tickets sold across Canada.

"Lottery players want to win so we looked at new ways to improve Lotto 6/49 in an effort to keep the experience fun and exciting for players," added Gass. "The thousands of Lotto 6/49 players who gave feedback recognized that for an additional dollar they were getting better value and were enthusiastic about the improved odds and more chances to win."

Lotto 6/49 is still the same game that players know and love, only better. Players look to match up to six numbers from 1 to 49 to win big jackpots or other great cash prizes. The new free-play prize category improves the overall odds of winning a prize to 1 in 6.6 from 1 in 32 - nearly five times more chances to win per draw. Odds of winning the main Lotto 6/49 jackpot remain the same at 1 in 13,983,816.

Sales for the new Lotto 6/49 start on Sunday, September 15, 2013 with the first draw to be held on Wednesday, September 18, 2013.

Players can still play Lotto 6/49 the same way they always have, where they choose six numbers from 1 to 49, or select a Quick Pick.
