Cincinnati Ballet Opens 2013-2014 50th Anniversary Season

CINCINNATI, OH--(Marketwired - Sep 13, 2013) - Cincinnati Ballet celebrates its 50th anniversary during the 2013-2014 when its season opens with the performance "The Kaplan New Works Series," September 12-22.

To commemorate this elite milestone, four primary initiatives have been unveiled in addition to a full slate of productions.

The Cincinnati Ballet's Golden Anniversary celebration includes: the original world premiere of "King Arthur's Camelot," choreographed by Artistic Director & CEO Victoria Morgan; a commemorative book, "Cincinnati Ballet Celebrates" 50 with never-before-seen photography and intimate interviews, "Set to Soar Endowment Campaign," the largest endowment effort in company history and a "Tour to New York" with seven performances at the Joyce Theater.

"King Arthur's Camelot" will be a lavish world premiere, choreographed by Morgan and presented for the first time February 13-16, 2014. To create the narrative of this extraordinary legend, Morgan has enlisted the talents of dramaturge Eda Holmes, composer John Estacio, costume designer Sandra Woodall, set designer Joe Tilford and lighting designer Trad A Burns.

"Cincinnati Ballet Celebrates" 50 chronicles the mesmerizing story of the company's transformation from the small Cincinnati Civic Ballet to one of the country's leading ballet companies. The "Set to Soar Endowment Campaign" has established an ambitious goal of raising $7 million to secure a solid financial base for the future of the company, with $5.973 million committed to date. Taking place for the first time in over 35 years, Cincinnati Ballet will embark on a "Tour to New York" with a richly diverse contemporary repertoire at the Joyce Theater, May 6-11, 2014, featuring unreleased new music written by Grammy-winning guitarist Peter Frampton for the collaborative work with Cincinnati Ballet, "Hummingbird in a Box."
