Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund: Municipality of Lambton Receives Financial Support from Government of Canada


LAMBTON, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - Sept. 17, 2013) - Acting on behalf of the Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Infrastructure, Communities and Intergovernmental Affairs and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, the Honourable Christian Paradis, Member of Parliament for Mégantic-L'Érable, Minister of International Development and Minister for La Francophonie, today announced that the municipality of Lambton has been granted funding for the renovation and expansion of its marina.

"By supporting the municipality of Lambton's project to modernize its marina, the Government of Canada is showing that it is committed to fostering the economic development of communities and the well-being of the population," said Minister Paradis.

The contribution from Canada Economic Development will enable the municipality to move forward with the design and purchase of floating docks, walkways and support pillars. This project will result in the creation of 27 docking spaces for pleasure craft.

This assistance, granted in the form of a $194,150 non-repayable financial contribution, has been awarded through the Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund (CIIF).

The CIIF has a nationwide budget of $150 million over two years, including $31.2 million to be invested in Quebec, where the Agency is responsible for its administration. The Fund aims to support the rehabilitation and improvement, including expansion, of existing community infrastructure.
