CHICAGO, IL--(Marketwired - Sep 24, 2013) - If variety is the spice of life, then experience is the spice of a career. Nothing better prepares a new employee -- especially a new manager -- for the challenges ahead like having surmounted a few in a previous position. And that's good news for the Chicago Marriott at Medical District/UIC, which recently welcomed industry veteran Maggie Bleau as its new Senior Sales Manager.

Bleau arrived at this hotel near downtown Chicago by way of the Crowne Plaza Chicago Metro, where she served as the Business Travel Sales Manager. This position was invaluable in terms of cultivating resources and partnerships within the community to build a local market for the hotel.

But Bleau's background extends beyond Chicago hotels near Union Station, and beyond the hospitality industry as a whole for that matter. Bleau started her career with the Spirit of Chicago dining boat, where she specialized in coordinating social events. From there, she moved to Bubba Gump Shrimp Co., Capi's Italian Kitchen and Buca di Beppo. It was in this last capacity that Bleau was able to expand on her restaurant sales/catering background to accomplish such things as the launch of the "312 Scene," a television show aired in more than 80,000 hotel rooms across Chicagoland.

With nearly a decade of professional experience, Bleau has repeatedly demonstrated her ability to lead well. Case in point is when she served as president of HSMAI-Illinois in 2011 and 2012. She was also part of the steering committee for the first-ever HUG Chicago event, coordinated in part by Hospitality Cares Chicago.

Bleau will bring this diversity of professional experience to bear in exciting ways at this hotel near downtown Chicago. From Chicago hotel packages that attract visitors, to the cultivation of local partnerships, Bleau's tasks seem ideally suited to her strengths. Perhaps most promising of all is her personal secret for success. "Never say no," she counsels. "Always give options." It's an attitude that bodes well for the hotel and its guests.
