Threadflip Grows to Half a Million Users, Arrives on iPad

Threadflip Finds Its Niche in the Growing Re-Commerce Space

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwired - Sep 24, 2013) - Threadflip, the fashion marketplace where women sell, shop and gather inspiration, today debuted on iPad. Now with more than half a million users, Threadflip is the only re-commerce marketplace hitting both ends of the selling spectrum, offering White Glove and peer-to-peer options. This has contributed to a steady climb in the average transaction rate, which is now more than $61 per transaction, up from $44 just three months ago.

"The average transaction rate speaks directly to the type of community that we are creating and how we are in the mid-market space that is ideal for women looking to commoditize their closets," said Anand Iyer, head of product at Threadflip. "We have truly found our niche within the growing re-commerce space at the intersection of the online bazaars and luxury marketplaces."

The arrival on iPad comes following the launch of an iOS 7 redesign that had Threadflip reimagining the mobile shopping experience and dramatically simplifying and beautifying the original iPhone app. It's currently one of a handful of apps featured by Apple in an iOS 7 collection. The "universal" app design approach taken by Threadflip means that it runs seamlessly from Apple device to device.

With more than 80 percent of mobile users accessing the site via an Apple device, Threadflip sees roughly 20 percent of the overall traffic coming from iPad. Those users spend the most time on the site -- twice as long as the average web user. They also browse three times more content on the site and spend 50 percent more on purchases than the average user.

Coming off the heels of the personalization launch in July, Threadflip dove into the iOS 7 makeover after seeing the new software's many possibilities. Imagery now takes center stage, making shopping and selling on the app as addictive as ever. Browsing is now bigger, better and more beautiful with the full-screen visual opportunities, revealing more of what the Threadflip community loves when thumbing through the app. Additionally, the app accounts for more than 80 percent of daily new listings and half of all purchases.

Threadflip's apps for iPhone and iPad are available today for download in the App Store. Visit http://appstore.com/threadflip.
