Capitol Hill Hotel Supports Fight Against Breast Cancer

WASHINGTON, DC--(Marketwired - Sep 30, 2013) - The Courtyard Washington Capitol Hill/Navy Yard is proud to participate in October's National Breast Cancer Awareness Month (NBCAM). After its start more than 25 years ago, the month-long awareness campaign has brought together everyone from government agencies to breast cancer survivors to help spread the word and start a dialogue. This year, the hotel is supporting the cause by raising money for the local GoPink!DC organization.

This Capitol Hill Washington, DC hotel will collect donations in partnership with GoPink!DC to benefit the American Cancer Society and their efforts to fight breast cancer. GoPink!DC is the "premiere and only dragon boat team in Washington, DC whose members are exclusively breast cancer survivors and female supporters." Through its 20-person dragon boat teams, the organization offers "fitness, friendship, and fun."

GoPink!DC will also participate in The American Cancer Society's Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk, taking place October 6^th at the National Mall near this DC hotel. The annual walk began more than 20 years ago, and with the help of millions of walkers has raised more than $460 million in the fight against breast cancer.

This year's walk, just minutes from this Capitol Hill business hotel, will include 6,000 walkers, including the GoPink!DC team. By collecting donations, the Courtyard by Marriott Washington Capitol Hill/Navy Yard is hoping to help the organization reach its goal of $15,000. The money raised is split with the American Cancer Society, who will use a majority of the funds to help local programs for research and to assist cancer survivors.
