MEMPHIS, TN and NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - Oct 7, 2013) - Lucite International, owner of the LuciteLux® acrylic brand, today announced a partnership with the Museum of Arts and Design (MAD) that includes the in-kind donation of LuciteLux® acrylic material used to make display pedestals for the highly anticipated 'Out of Hand: Materializing the Postdigital' exhibition. Opening on October 16, 'Out of Hand' is the first major museum show to examine the impact of digital fabrication technologies, including 3D printing and computer-numerically-controlled (CNC) machining, on the creative processes of artists, architects, and designers.
Lucite International worked with Ron Labaco, Marcia Docter Curator at the Museum of Arts and Design, and the exhibition designers, Incorporated, New York, to create display pedestals for some of the more than 85 works in the collection, which come from an international cast of established and emerging practitioners.

It is also easy to clean and effectively resists crazing, which is when fine cracks develop on the surface of a material. Northeast Plastic Supply of Philadelphia fabricated the pedestals for the exhibition.
