Tintri Sets a New Bar for Scaling Storage for Virtualization With the New VMstore T600 Series and Tintri Global Center

Extends Company's Zero Management Storage With New Models and Centralized Control

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA--(Marketwired - Oct 8, 2013) - Tintri, the leading producer of storage for virtualization and cloud environments, today announced the next generation Tintri VMstore™ T600 series, supporting twice the number of VMs per system compared to previous generations. In addition, Tintri announced Tintri Global Center™, a control platform that enables a new architecture for global scaling, where multiple Tintri VMstore systems seamlessly function as one. Together, these offerings enable IT to break free from the enormous complexity and cost of using traditional storage to support rapidly growing virtualized environments.

The two new models in the Tintri VMstore T600 series, T650 and T620, provide mid-sized and large enterprises with the ideal Zero Management Storage™ solution for virtualization and cloud. Based on the patented and award-winning Tintri FlashFirst™ design, the VMstore T600 series requires no ongoing administration to deliver optimal storage performance for as many as 2,000 virtual machines per system with sub-millisecond IO latencies. With industry-leading VM density, the new systems further reduce the time administrators spend deploying, configuring and administering storage, allowing them to focus on more pressing projects.

As virtualization environments grow, scaling storage with Tintri is as simple as adding additional VMstore systems and leveraging Tintri Global Center for centralized administration, control and reporting for up to 32 VMstore systems and their resident VMs. Built on an architectural foundation capable of supporting a million VMs, the platform allows IT to globally scale their storage for virtualization. Tintri Global Center will enable third-parties to build out a rich ecosystem over time extending the functionality of Tintri Zero Management Storage using REST APIs for automation.

"Tintri's modular approach to scaling storage for virtualization using VMstore and Tintri Global Center is similar how IT scales compute using VMware vCenter. This should simplify how IT scales their virtual environments," said Terri McClure, analyst for Enterprise Strategy Group. "We believe the company's new VMstore T600 Series and Tintri Global Center should enable users to experience an increase in efficiency for their virtualization-aligned storage by simplifying management and increasing VM storage density."

"For all of its tangible server side benefits, virtualization has also introduced additional costs and complexity to the storage side of the equation," said Kieran Harty, Tintri CEO. "From day one, our value proposition has been to eliminate those hurdles so that enterprises can scale their virtualization projects quickly and efficiently, just as they have with scaling compute. This approach has fueled our considerable growth in a relatively short time, and we see these new VMstore systems and the Tintri Global Center platform as a major milestone in bringing our zero management approach to an even broader market of mid-sized and large enterprise users and make global scaling of storage for virtualization a reality."

"As the largest independent hosting provider specializing in Blackbaud software, our rapid growth regularly puts our infrastructure to the test. This is why we deploy Tintri in our environment," said Glen Kendell, president of hosting and operations at Beyond Nines, a Tintri customer. "Reports that used to take six hours to run with our previous storage take four minutes with Tintri -- this has greatly improved customer satisfaction. And their building block approach with VMstore and Tintri Global Center will allow us to easily scale without the fuss of traditional storage."

"During our initial VDI deployment, we quickly discovered that storage was our biggest bottleneck. After extensive testing we decided on Tintri to consolidate our VM infrastructure because it was able to successfully tackle our VDI deployment's performance and management needs." said John Yates, IT manager with College of Engineering and Architecture at Washington State University. "We continue to be impressed with the new Tintri VMstore T600 Series. Based on our testing, it delivers one of the best price per user for VDI - while meeting the needs of demanding users from our engineering and architecture departments."
