the happy egg co. Free Range Eggs Flock to Albertsons Stores in Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwired - Oct 9, 2013) - the happy egg co. is expanding distribution of its high quality Free Range eggs to 84 Albertsons stores in Texas, Louisiana and Arkansas this month. The availability of happy eggs from the happy egg co. at Albertsons Southern division locations will give consumers something to cluck about as Free Range eggs are made conveniently available at a reasonable price, $4.99 a dozen, at local grocery stores.

Extending a bit of southern hospitality to chickens, the happy egg co. is guided by the mantra that well-treated, happy hens produce high quality eggs. Happy egg hens, or the "Girls," are free to perform the Texas Two Step, roaming freely on at least four acres of pasture on family farms in Arkansas that are tended by expert animal stewards who are passionate about maintaining and improving hen living conditions.

"A recent survey by the American Humane Association found that 84% of people are interested in supporting the humane treatment of farm animals. The biggest factor preventing consumers from buying these products is that they haven't been available," said Rob Newell, chief marketing officer for the happy egg co. "However, our partnership with Albertsons Southern division will make high quality, Free Range eggs available to more people, and at a reasonable price."

Setting the gold standard for happy hens, the happy egg co. has received as Certified Humane Raised and Handled® certification by Certified Humane®, a third-party animal welfare certification program that covers everything from hens' living conditions to their feed, and the expertise of their caregivers.

With the expanded distribution into Albertsons stores in Texas, Louisiana and Arkansas, Free Range eggs from the happy egg co. will now be available at 1,500 stores throughout the nation, including grocery stores in California, Arizona, Nevada, and Colorado.
