Tactical Communications Group Announces Award for 3 Ground Tactical Data Link Systems for the JASDF, USAF, and ANG

GTS Systems Will Support Daily Tactical Data Link Operations and LVC Training

TEWKSBURY, MA--(Marketwired - Oct 9, 2013) -  Tactical Communications Group (TCG), the leading independent supplier of tactical data link (TDL) software solutions for military test, training, simulation and operational users worldwide, announced today the award for 3 of TCG's Multi-TDL Ground Tactical Data Link Systems (GTS®). The systems are slated for delivery to the Japanese Air Self Defense Force (JASDF), the 148th FW Duluth MN Air National Guard (ANG), and the 35th FW at Misawa Japan. TCG will provide installation, checkout and training to personnel from each unit to ensure immediate utilization and maximum benefit from the system. "The award represents further expansion of the already significant presence of TCG's ground stations and provides even more opportunity to guarantee the system continues to meet the broad spectrum of TDL capabilities required by our customers," said Nick Kropp, TCG's Vice President of Worldwide Field Operations. "These systems will be employed to conduct a wide array of applications to include, daily operations, tactical exercises, testing, and Live, Virtual, and Constructive (LVC) training."

"We are very pleased and proud to be able to continue to support our US and coalition partners through the deployment of our GTS," said Michael Hiney, TCG's President and CEO. "We have worked very hard over the last 8 years to take the lessons learned from our GTS operators and work them back into the product to improve its ease of use and overall TDL operational capability."

TCG also announced the opening of a Mid-West US office location to better support US military training efforts being driven through the Air Force Research Laboratory at Wright Patterson Air Force Base located outside Dayton, Ohio. TCG is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Roger "Schindler" Smith, who will head this office as well as serve as TCG's Senior Manager for Live, Virtual, and Constructive applications. and lead TCG's efforts to support the training community's ever increasing demand for high fidelity simulation and optimal live link employment.

"Roger's extensive experiences in the military will help to further drive TCG's ability to meet the ever-changing needs of the data link training community," said Nick Kropp,. "We understand that the military has evolving and unique needs and Roger's expertise will be especially valuable in providing customized solutions like the one developed for MN ANG enabling optimal expansion of LVC employment."

Recent enhancements to TCG's products include an enhanced Distributive Interactive Simulation (DIS) capability that enables full integration of the powerful simulation engine within the GTS to support distributive mission operations with full data link integration and fusion of simulated tracks with live Link 16 operations to support LVC training.

TCG will be exhibiting its latest product enhancements and capabilities at this year's International Data Link Symposium (IDLS) in Norfolk, Virginia. TCG is an IDLS "Gold" sponsor and will be in Booth #100. TCG is also taking a leading role in the planning and development of Symposium-wide TDL interoperability demonstrations. "System interoperability and link connectivity protocols continue to reach new levels of excellence and operational employment reflects the reliance on, and criticality of, TDL information," said Mr. Francis Luk, TCG's Division Director, Operational Support, and IDLS Demo Team Lead for this year's event. More information about the event can be found at the IDLS 2013 web site.

TCG's Ground Tactical Data Link System (GTS®)

Supports the operational and training needs of end users who integrate Link 16 and other Tactical Data Links (TDLs) into their ground infrastructure to support C2 and non-C2 activities. The Multi-TDL GTS® includes features that are found in large scale Command and Control (C2) environments. There is a sophisticated tactical display and MIL-STD-compliant message generator to support TDL operations, and a powerful and intuitive simulation capability to support training and interoperability testing. Data recording and playback functions allow for the analysis and debrief of test, training, and operations activities. The playback functions also allow the platform operators to evaluate tactics and procedures. The GTS can be configured to support a Multi-MIDS environment that provides Link 16 ground coverage across a large geographic or country-wide area.
