Media Advisory: SSHRC Unveils Recipients of the 2013 Impact Awards


OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - Oct. 15, 2013) - The Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) will announce the five recipients of the 2013 Impact Awards, including the winner of the prestigious Gold Medal, today, during a special ceremony at the World Social Science Forum (www.wssf2013.org) in Montréal.

The ceremony will also feature the award-winning multimedia presentations of the "final five" SSHRC Storytellers, the winners of SSHRC's 2013 Research for a Better Life: The Storytellers challenge. Their presentations highlight how research in the social sciences and humanities affects our lives, our world and our future prosperity.

Media are invited to attend the luncheon and the ceremony at the Palais des congrès de Montréal, beginning at 1:30 p.m. There will be a photo opportunity and media availability following the event.

Accreditation is necessary to gain access to all World Social Science Forum sessions and special events, and the on-site Media Room with phone and network access. Please complete the 2013 Media Accreditation Form prior to arrival.
