BRANTFORD, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - Oct. 15, 2013) - On September 17th 2013, Robert Taylor of Brantford, Ontario, pleaded guilty to one count of causing distress to an animal under the Ontario SPCA Act.

On August 15, 2012, The Brant County SPCA responded to a complaint at a residence regarding a concern for the welfare of two dogs.

The dogs appeared to be suffering severe hair loss, red and raw skin, severe flea infestation and overgrown nails.

Ontario SPCA Agents issued orders under the Ontario SPCA Act to have the dogs examined after Mr. Taylor was unable to provide proof that the dogs had been examined by a veterinarian.

After failure to comply, charges were laid against Mr. Taylor including two counts of causing distress to an animal and two counts of failing to provide medical attention.

On September 17, 2013, Mr. Taylor pleaded guilty to one count of causing distress to an animal.

Mr. Taylor was sentenced to a two year prohibition from owning any animals with the exception of the dog he currently owns.

Taylor must advise the Ontario SPCA of a change of address seven days prior to moving. Ontario SPCA Agents are allowed to enter his residence to inspect his animals to ensure compliance with the Ontario SPCA Act. Mr. Taylor also received a $500 fine.
