Business developments
The invoicing figures for systems reflect the change in seasonal trends for the production plan, focused on the end of the year in 2013. During the first nine months, seven MBE machines were invoiced, compared with 10 (including two production machines) for the same period in 2012.
Sales of services and accessories are down 12% compared with the previous year, factoring in the contraction in demand for services among industrial customers.
Sales of evaporation sources and cells are still dependent on decisions for investments in the production of OLED flat screens or thin-film solar cells. Nevertheless, RIBER is maintaining a major research drive with a view to developing new ranges of cells on these high-potential markets. The incorporation of RIBER Korea during the third quarter is a key enabler to this plan.
At September 30th, 2013, the breakdown of RIBER's revenues was as follows: 37% for Asia, 34% for Europe and 29% for North America.
Outlook
During the third quarter of 2013, RIBER recorded a research system order for a laboratory in Japan. At September 30th, 2013, the order book represented €12.0 million (€11.7 million at end-June 2013). This order book does not include the order received in October for a system to be delivered in China, as announced on October 21st.
RIBER also unveiled a new model for its best-selling Compact 21 range, with a view to harnessing future growth on the MBE market.
In view of the industrial product planning for the fourth quarter and the short-term business outlook, RIBER is able to confirm its target for revenues of between €24 and 26 million in 2013, enabling it to record a profit over the full year.
2013 full-year revenues will be released on January 23rd, 2014 (after close of trading).
