Government of Canada Funds 2014 Festival de la chanson de Tadoussac

TADOUSSAC, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - Nov. 5, 2013) - The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Infrastructure, Communities and Intergovernmental Affairs and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, announces that the Festival de la chanson de Tadoussac has been granted funding to promote its 31st edition, which will be taking place June 12 to 15, 2014, on external markets.

"By lending financial support to the Festival de la chanson de Tadoussac, our government is showing that tourism is at the very heart of the strategy we have put in place to foster economic growth," said Minister Lebel.

The Festival de la chanson de Tadoussac, which kicks off the annual tourist season in Côte-Nord, draws thousands of visitors every year, among them an ever-growing number of Europeans who take the opportunity while in the region to go on whale watching excursions. The festival plays an undeniable role in furthering Côte-Nord's economic and tourism development.

The financial assistance will serve to promote the 2014 edition of the Festival de la chanson de Tadoussac on French-speaking markets outside Quebec, notably in Europe. The commercialization activities will include carrying out an advertising campaign and exploratory missions on new markets prior to the festival and welcoming foreign journalists.

Information:

This support, granted in the form of a $97,095 non-repayable financial contribution for the festival's 2013 and 2014 editions, has been awarded through Canada Economic Development's Quebec Economic Development Program.
