The CMO Club Announces Stephen Quinn as Inaugural 2013 Inductee of the CMO Hall of Fame

To Be Honored at The CMO Awards Event November 12th in New York

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - Nov 6, 2013) -  The CMO Club (TheCMOClub.com) is proud to announce Stephen Quinn, Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer of Walmart U.S., as the first ever inductee to the CMO Hall of Fame. Induction into the CMO Hall of Fame is part of the CMO Awards and is the world's premier CMO honor -- based on a marketing executive's demonstrated delivery in leadership, marketing, and leading the growth agenda for the company over his/her career.

The CMO Awards were established to celebrate the marketing industry's brightest leaders and to provide a forum to share their successes with other CMOs. It is the first and only CMO Awards program driven and decided entirely by an elite group of "peers only." The CMO Hall of Fame inductee, determined by an Awards Panel made up of CMO Club Chapter Presidents, the CMO Club Founder/CEO, and key CMO Club members, has not only delivered "high impact" to his/her company, but had a positive influence on the industry based on their leadership, innovation and active participation.

"Naturally I'm flattered," responded Mr. Quinn. He continued, "however an honor like this is a reflection of the opportunity to contribute available by the purpose and scale of Walmart. It also exhibits the awesome team of marketers that I get to lead every day. While I've had a hand in both successful and unsuccessful marketing ventures, it has always been the great bosses and a team of committed marketers who have made things work."

Mr. Quinn is responsible for all aspects of Walmart's marketing effort, including customer research, strategy, program development, branding and customer communications. He joined Walmart in 2005 as the Senior Vice President of Marketing and was named to his current position in 2007.

Prior to joining Walmart, Mr. Quinn was Chief Marketing Officer of PepsiCo's Frito-Lay North America division. During his 13 years at PepsiCo, he served in a number of marketing roles, including innovation, brand management, advertising, market research and customer marketing. He was the General Manager of Convenience Foods and separately the Head of Marketing of Frito-Lay Canada.

An extensive and impressive background, Mr. Quinn also worked in marketing, sales and finance roles for Quaker Oats, Johnson & Johnson, Procter & Gamble and Nortel. He has managed several leading brands, including Tylenol, Johnson's Baby Products, Quaker Oats, Aunt Jemima, Lay's Tostitos, Doritos, Great Value, Equate and Walmart. Mr. Quinn is Chairman of the Board of the Association of National Advertisers, and on the boards of the Ad Council and Give Kids the World.

The CMO Club will host a CMO Awards dinner in New York City on Tuesday, November 12, to honor Mr. Quinn and formally induct him into the Hall of Fame. Additionally, 23 winners of the first ever CMO Awards will be honored at the CMO Awards dinner and one CMO from each of six categories will be presented the "CMOs Choice" award voted on by their peers. Prior to the dinner Mr. Quinn and other CMO Awards Winners will participate in an exclusive CMOs only Roundtable to share insights around the topic of "What's in Store in 2014 for Marketing."

"The CMO Awards and CMO Hall of Fame were conceived by CMOs in The CMO Club, and their selection of Stephen Quinn sets the bar high for future CMO Hall of Fame Inductees. I'm looking forward to honoring Stephen and along with the other CMO category winners at the Award Dinner on November 12th, which will be the finest gathering of CMOs in the history of the club," noted CMO Club Founder and CEO, Pete Krainik.
