The Dubai World Hospitality Championship 2013 Invites the Best of Moscow Dining to Compete

Representing Russia, the Renaissance Moscow Olympic Hotel's Culinary Team Plans to Steal the Spotlight

MOSCOW, RUSSIA--(Marketwired - Nov 7, 2013) - There's nothing wrong with a little friendly competition, especially when it involves food. And the tastebuds of judges and attendees alike will benefit from this accepted wisdom during the inaugural Dubai World Hospitality Championship 2013. Among the 12 competing international teams are the Russian culinary experts who hail from some of Moscow's finest accommodations, the Renaissance Moscow Olympic Hotel.

For three days, Dubai will host the culinary expo, which will celebrate the heritage and culture of the region, as well as present talented chefs from around the world.

The Russian team, headed by Chef Andrey Kononov, was selected by the Moscow Culinary Association and includes Andrey Kononov, Andrey Kulikov, Elena Zubareva, Tatiana Voronina, Natalia Olar, Andrey Garashenko and Oleg Naumov. All the chefs enjoy extensive culinary backgrounds with competitive experience in contests held both in Russia and abroad. And as this Moscow business hotel's talented team collaborates on a menu that is at once inspired by traditional Russian dishes but informed by modern aesthetics and taste, their dynamic collaboration promises excellent results.

The hotel, which is located in Moscow near Red Square, recently made it into the finals of Wedding Magazine's "Wedding Awards 2013" in the "best wedding cake" category. Home to some of the best Russian restaurants in Moscow, the property also earned second place during the PIR Expo's "Creamelotier" culinary contest in Russia.

The 12 official international teams represent the United States, Germany, Australia, Russia, China, Singapore, South Africa, Canada, Wales, Slovenia, Malaysia and the United Arab Emirates. Each of the seven-member teams will prepare a gourmet meal for 50 people, as well as participate in individual competitions that include activities like carving ice and chocolate. The jury of the competition committee is composed of members of the World Association of Chefs Societies (WACS), and each participating country appointed a member from the WACS to serve in the championship. Chef Otto Weibel from Singapore will head the competition committee. Alexander Prokopovich, WACS Education Committee Member and Special Advisor, has been selected by the Russian team.

This event is organized by the Government of Dubai and Zaabeel Palace Hospitality and co-organized by WACS and The Emirates Culinary Guild. It will take place at the Dubai World Trade Centre from November 16 to 19, 2013.
