Death of an Inmate at Grande Cache Institution


GRANDE CACHE, ALBERTA--(Marketwired - Nov. 8, 2013) - On November 7, 2013, Martin Lucien Roch, an inmate at Grande Cache Institution was discovered in medical distress.

Staff members immediately began performing CPR and emergency services were called. The offender was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead at approximately 12:18 p.m..

At the time of his death, Mr. Roch, 42 years old, had been serving a sentence of 2 years, 5 months and for Operate a Motor Vehicle (Flight) and Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle since October 30, 2012.

The inmate's next of kin have been notified of his death.

As in all cases involving the death of an inmate, the police and the coroner have been notified, and Correctional Service Canada will review the circumstances of the incident.
