IDC to Showcase Its Targeted Ad Insertion Platforms for Radio and TV at AfricaCom 2013

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - Nov. 11, 2013) - International Datacasting (TSX:IDC), a global leader in digital content distribution for the world's premiere radio and television broadcasters, announces its participation at the upcoming AfricaCom show. Taking place November 12-14 at CTICC Cape Town, South Africa, IDC will highlight its STAR Pro Audio Solution and LASER™ Targeted Ad Insertion Platform within the booth of its partner Stratosat Datacom (Pty) Ltd (stand A06a). This year marks IDC's first appearance at AfricaCom.

"The African broadcast market is growing rapidly, and is rapidly increasing in importance for IDC," said Doug Lowther, President and CEO. "AfricaCom is the largest conference and exhibition of its kind in Africa. IDC is looking forward to attending with Stratosat and networking with show attendees to strengthen our relationships and learn more about the needs of broadcasters in this market."

IDC will highlight the second generation of its popular STAR Pro Audio Solution. The platform provides radio networks with localized ad insertion, helping them to increase revenue and lower operating expenditures. The STAR Pro Audio Solution allows operators to easily insert stored audio files into live or recorded programming, send selected ads to specific regions or receivers, and play the right content at the best time with its time-shifting functionality.

Additionally, the solution allows for significant cost savings. It uses up to 70% less satellite bandwidth compared to other systems by requiring just 120 kHz space segment for a high quality stereo broadcast. Other cost savings can be realized through shared hub support, which enables multiple radio networks to share one multi-channel receiver instead of deploying several single-channel receivers.

Also to be featured at AfricaCom is IDC's LASER platform, which provides targeted local ad insertion and DVB-S/S2 satellite video reception in a single cost-effective device. The solution affords broadcasters greater flexibility, eliminating the barriers of licensing constraints and regulatory issues, and enabling regionalized ad insertion and blackout management for satellite delivered content. LASER enables television networks and content distributors to broaden their advertising clientele and increase revenue through a highly targeted, network-wide approach.

The 16th annual AfricaCom will represent over 100 countries and feature more than 350 exhibitors and 300 speakers from all aspects of digital communications. To find out more about the three-day conference and exhibition, visit the show website.
