Omni-ID Adds Active Tag to Product Portfolio

Introduction Makes Omni-ID Harsh Environment Product Portfolio Broadest in Industry

ROCHESTER, NY--(Marketwired - Dec 12, 2013) - Omni-ID, the original inventor of the on-metal tag and leading global supplier of high-performance, RFID tags and visual tagging systems today announced a new addition to its lineup of products -- the Power 400 Tag. Traditionally known for its robust portfolio of passive RFID tags and its groundbreaking visual tagging system for manufacturing, the addition of this highly rugged active RFID tag makes Omni-ID's product portfolio the broadest and most complete in the industry.

"Once again, Omni-ID has come to the market with another game-changing product," said George E. Daddis, Jr., PhD, CEO of Omni-ID. "As you would expect from Omni-ID -- the Power 400 tag has been designed from the ground up not only to perform in some of the harshest environments on the planet -- but includes brand new functionality not seen before in active RFID tags -- we're raising the bar," added Daddis. "Not only does this tag have both active and passive RFID built right in, we've incorporated smart technology to regulate voltage for consistent performance in any environment (-40 C to +60C), communicate without interference over the clearest channels and, our tag acquisition rate is 7X faster than any other tag on the market, without draining the battery."

The Power 400 tag is ideal for tracking assets in harsh outdoor environments where high impact, temperature fluctuations and exposure to chemical or other harsh materials are part of the day-to-day use case. The tag has been designed with a rugged over-molding for extreme durability and use in dangerous environments such as the energy industry -- where the possibility of high impact is probable. The active RFID functionality provides for exceptional read ranges over widely dispersed areas, with the certainty of passive RFID built in as a back-up. An ATEX certified version of the product will be available in early 2014.

"We've seen an enormous amount of interest in the Power 400 tag by companies in the Oil & Gas industry because, like most Omni-ID tags, it has been designed to meet the toughest requirements, and provide the highest level of performance," said Tony Kington, Managing Director, Europe and EVP Sales. "This is the toughest active tag on the market -- between the rugged over-molding and the fact that it is completely sealed -- it can take on the big job of not only withstanding high impact and all type of environmental stress (including freezing temperatures, moisture and corrosive elements) that we've put it under, and reliably perform -- every time."
