New Assisted Living Community Hosts `Living It Up' Contest for Madison-Area Seniors

BrightStar Senior Living of Madison to Grant Wishes of One Lucky Older Adult

MADISON, Wis., Jan. 10, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Whether as exhilarating as riding in a hot air balloon or preparing a gourmet meal alongside a professional chef, or as simple as returning to their childhood home or learning how to dance the salsa, one lucky Madison-area senior will have their dream of "Living It Up" come true in 2014.

BrightStar Senior Living of Madison, a new premier assisted living and memory care community set to open in February, is accepting nominations now through January 31, 2014 for its "Living It Up" contest. Through the contest, nominees simply describe in 50 words or less what a day of "Living It Up" would look like to them. One lucky senior will then be chosen and given the opportunity to see and experience their "Living It Up" dream for a day.

"As we start to accept reservations into our assisted living community, we wanted to welcome and honor the senior community in Madison in a fun, yet meaningful way," said Bonnie Banker, Executive Director of BrightStar Senior Living of Madison. "Our philosophy is focused on person-centered care. We relish in opportunities to honor and create treasured moments for our residents. It's what we're all about. The Living It Up contest fits perfectly with our mission. We can't wait to see the entries and announce the big winner."

Seniors can either nominate themselves, or, with their permission, family, friends or neighbors of seniors can submit nominations on their behalf, Banker noted. "They just have to describe what kind of memorable experience they desire and provide contact information so we can reach them in case they win," Banker added.

The premier assisted living and memory care community, located at 6550 Schroeder Road in Madison, was thoughtfully designed with both function and comfort in mind. It will provide care for individuals whose needs may be greater than what can be best managed at home. The atmosphere of gracious living will feature exquisite furnishings, fine dining, fresh flowers, meaningful programming and expert care from a specially trained caregiving team. The building itself will span 25,726 square feet over one acre of land, accommodating 36 residents on two floors, with the entire second floor neighborhood dedicated to memory care, serving residents with dementia in a secure environment.

The community will be licensed and operated as a CBRF (community-based residential facility) in the state of Wisconsin, will allow residents to remain in a comfortable setting, even as their conditions progress. Nurses, including the full-time Director of Health and Wellness and the RN Case Manager will be available 24 hours a day and directly oversee the experienced and specially trained direct caregivers.
