City of Houston Deploys Decision Lens to Better Manage Capital Planning and Project Prioritization Planning Efforts

ARLINGTON, VA--(Marketwired - Jan 16, 2014) -  Decision Lens, the leading provider of cloud-based prioritization and resource optimization software, announced today that the City of Houston selected it this past spring to assist in the creation of a 5 year capital plan for general government facilities. Decision Lens guided the evaluation of projects addressing Mayor Annise Parker's strategic objectives for the city. As part of the evaluation process, Decision Lens helped prioritize the following five key areas of the municipality: jobs and sustainable development, fiscal responsibility, infrastructure, public safety, and quality of life.

Houston is the largest city in Texas and the fourth-largest city in the United States. According to the 2010 U.S. Census, the city had a population of over 2.1 million people. Houston is the seat of Harris County, and its metro area is the fifth-largest in the U.S., with over 6 million people. Houston's economy has a broad industrial base in energy, manufacturing, aeronautics, and transportation. It is also leading in health care sectors and building oilfield equipment; only New York City is home to more Fortune 500 headquarters.

"The City of Houston has some very specific goals for its capital planning, and Decision Lens can maximize its available resources that most closely align with their goals and objectives," said John Kealey, CEO of Decision Lens. "Political and campaign agendas can become profoundly more realistic when combining those strategies with Decision Lens and available resources."

Decision Lens software is used across government and commercial organizations for improved prioritization, resource allocation and capital planning. Key clients include Amtrak, Maryland Transit Administration, Joint Staff, US Navy, Air Force, and Army, and the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority.
