DETAILS:

Following the end of the "Great Recession" in 2009, the average state unemployment insurance (UI) tax rate increased significantly, up to 47 percent. At the same time, the average state UI wage base has increased by 19 percent, and the federal employment taxes increased in more than 20 states.

Despite this drastic increase, the trend line is now starting to turn in the other direction. Evidence shows UI tax rates moving downward, both nationally and in a number of states. These lower rates and legislative changes could present emerging opportunities for staffing firms, if they are prepared to take advantage of them.

During "What's Next for Unemployment Insurance and What It Means for Staffing Firms," Steve Carter, assistant director at Equifax, will discuss effective planning techniques that staffing firms can use to achieve cost savings. Participants will learn about additional challenges presented by mandated legislation to improve the integrity of the unemployment insurance systems, how they can ensure compliance and how to avoid fines associated with providing late or incomplete information to state workforce agencies.

Staffing firm owners and staffing firm professionals interested in learning more about proposed and newly enacted legislation are encouraged to attend this ASA Pro webinar. During this educational session, they will hear about the economic environment in which staffing firms currently operate and learn straightforward planning techniques.

Registration is complimentary for ASA members, and participants are eligible to earn 1.0 education hours toward their ASA certification renewal. Additional details may be accessed at: https://americanstaffing.net/education/ASAPro/2014/feb6.cfm
