Death of an Inmate at Drumheller Institution

DRUMHELLER, ALBERTA--(Marketwired - Feb. 17, 2014) - Correctional Service Canada

On February 15, 2014, Kenneth William Schaer, an inmate at Drumheller Institution was found unresponsive in his cell.

Staff members immediately began performing CPR and emergency services were called. The inmate could not be resuscitated.

At the time of his death, Mr,Schaer, 25 years old, had been serving a sentence of 3 years for Aggravated Assault since January 2, 2014.

The inmate's next of kin have been notified of his death.

As in all cases involving the death of an inmate, the police and the coroner have been notified, and Correctional Service Canada will review the circumstances of the incident.
