Spiceworks Debuts Free Career Resources to Revolutionize the Way 5 Million IT Professionals Find Their Next Job

Rich Project Portfolios Help IT Professionals Showcase Their Expertise in Ways That Go Beyond an Online Resume

AUSTIN, TX--(Marketwired - Feb 24, 2014) - Spiceworks, the professional network for IT, today introduced a series of resources IT professionals can use to further their careers and recruiters can use to find candidates with specific technology expertise. Spiceworks' IT profiles with projects and job board, coupled with Spiceworks' career group, will change the way IT professionals showcase their expertise as well as the information available to recruiters looking for talent. During the beta program, Spiceworks users with early access to the company's new profiles created nearly 4,000 IT projects and tagged over 750 individual products and services.

"Traditional online resumes are too generic and don't accurately capture the challenges and experiences of working in the IT industry," said Nigel Hickey, infrastructure administrator at National Specialty Alloys. "Like professionals in other industries, our jobs and the tools we use are unique. The way we share our expertise should also be unique to us, the work we do, and go beyond simple bullet points."

Spiceworks completes beta program for new IT profiles with projects

First previewed in October 2013 at SpiceWorld, Spiceworks' new profiles help IT professionals share their expertise more effectively by helping them highlight the skills and technologies they use to do their job. Profiles go beyond the traditional resume by allowing users to share their expertise as they work on projects, the products and services they've used, and their community contributions.

The new profiles also give IT professionals the ability to highlight their IT projects in a visually appealing way that's unique in the IT industry and gives forward-thinking recruiters a clear picture of professionals' expertise with specific technology products and services. Users can add photos, videos, budget and geographic information, as well as tag more than 40,000 catalogued IT products to bring their IT experiences to life.

Spiceworks offers a unique way for recruiters to find qualified candidates

Recruiters looking for qualified IT professionals can now post available positions at introductory pricing within the network millions IT professionals use to do their jobs. Spiceworks' job board now includes hundreds of available positions ranging from help desk support technician to CIO. Additionally, with Spiceworks' profiles and projects, recruiters can now provide hiring managers with access to an IT professional's portfolio of work, helping them understand the types of projects they've completed and the products and services they're familiar with.

"IT professionals are tasked with addressing the challenges of a constantly-evolving industry, yet until now, they didn't have a way to capture their expertise and IT experiences in a way that's unique to the IT industry and their career," said Tabrez Syed, vice president of Products at Spiceworks. "As the professional network for the $3 trillion IT industry, we have a unique opportunity to provide millions of IT professionals and the recruiters looking to reach them with the tools and resources they need to do their jobs."
