The company also announced the prestigious panel of expert judges who will select the 2014 winner:

  • Jaime Derringer, founder and executive editor of Design Milk

Lucite International will celebrate the winner with a full-page spread in Architectural Record as well as a making-of documentary that tells the story of the designer's work with LuciteLux®. The documentary will premiere at an exclusive screening party at the site of the installation and appear in a sponsored feature on the Design Milk blog.

"We are thrilled to launch the second annual JUST IMAGINE Awards as a way to honor the myriad designers who embrace the uniqueness of working with our material, LuciteLux®," said Robinson. "Last year's winner set the bar quite high by incorporating more than 200 triangles of our LuciteLux® Light Guide Panels into an immersive LED dome design for the Burning Man festival. My fellow judges and I simply cannot wait to see what the design community comes forward with in 2014."

Full LuciteLux® Line Showcased

All LuciteLux® colors and effects were on display in the booth at GlobalShop, including the most recent addition, LuciteLux® Spectrum LED Block. Part of the Illuminations Series, Block offers the European style of chunky block letter construction and new aesthetic possibilities to the sign and design markets. Specially designed to have channels routered out and LEDs embedded either inside or on a rear plate, Block offers an alternative to traditionally constructed letters.

"Block has optimized light transmission to maximize both the economic and environmental benefits of LED technology," said Jane Nash, LuciteLux® sales development manager. "It is easy to fabricate and can be used with white or colored LEDs, making it suitable for applications in visual communication and retail, and architecture and construction lighting."

Also on display were Impressions and Myst®, as well as other products from the LuciteLux® Illuminations Series, which allow designers to develop stunning back-lit and edge-lit LED signs using high quality continuous cast acrylic.

Named Best of GlobalShop in 2013, Impressions features a linear pattern and affords a unique and understated sophistication suitable to any retail environment.
