Oncology Services International Launches LINAC Service Training Program in China

MONTEBELLO, NY--(Marketwired - Apr 3, 2014) - Oncology Services International (OSI) today announced the launch of a first-of-its-kind service training program for accelerator service engineers in the People's Republic of China.

OSI's joint venture company, International Parts and Technology Alliance (IPTA), in association with the Radiation Therapy Equipment & Technology Branch of the China Medical Equipment Association, will jointly organize and conduct medical linear accelerator (LINAC) maintenance training for clinical engineers in China. This program is a recognized continuing education program, and participants will receive continuing medical education credits for attending. The first session is scheduled for May 25-31 in Beijing and will include hands-on practice on a high-energy 2100EX linear accelerator. Instruction will be provided by OSI and IPTA senior field service engineers.

"OSI is excited to participate in this expansion of training in China," said Richard J. Hall, President and CEO of OSI. "IPTA, our joint venture with Yipuda Management Company, has quickly grown into the leading independent service organization in China. This training partnership will further our objective of expanding access to high quality maintenance and service in China."

IPTA has been widely recognized as the first Sino-foreign joint venture medical accelerator maintenance service provider in China since its inception in May 2012.

OSI, founded in 1985, has a long history of satisfying customers by providing superior service at a reasonable price, positioning the company as the leading alternative to paying higher prices to the manufacturer for extended service. In addition to serving customers coast to coast in the United States, OSI provides service, Precision Certified equipment and parts worldwide.

Hall said, "Our leadership position as an alternative to OEM service has been achieved by providing the highest value, and this has included a corporate commitment to hands-on training. The extension of this value proposition through joint ventures similar to IPTA provides the same opportunity for achieving value through alternative service globally."
