Lion World Travel Pledges Support for the Endangered Wildlife Trust Rhino Project

DELRAY BEACH, FL, April 11, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Lion World Travel is passionate about their new campaign supporting Rhino conservation in South Africa. In honor of Earth Month, and in celebration of their 50th anniversary, Lion World Travel has committed to donating $0.50 to The Endangered Wildlife Trust every time their "Help Save the Rhinos" web page, Facebook message or tweet is shared. The promotional hashtags are #ShareIfYouCare or #50For50 . The goal is to reach 20,000 shares for a total of $10,000 to be donated to the trust.

"Conservation-based tourism is very close to our hearts, and bringing visitors on safari to witness the miracle of Africa's nature and wildlife is an integral part of what we do," said Lucille Sive, President of Lion World Travel. "The safari and tourism industry has an obligation to lend their support to wildlife conservation and protection, especially considering the current crisis in animal poaching - which has reached unprecedented levels in recent years."

"At Lion World Travel, we are haunted by the plight of the rhino," said Sive. "Ten years ago, a mere 25 rhinos were poached each year. In 2013, the number of poached rhinos in South Africa reached an unbelievable figure of 1,004!"

The illegal wildlife trade is estimated to be the third largest illegal industry in the world following drugs and human trafficking. The Endangered Wildlife Trust's Rhino Project works tirelessly to implement interventions at several stages in the poaching and wildlife trade chain.

In conjunction with The Treadright Foundation, a not-for-profit organization established by The Travel Corporation to encourage sustainable tourism within their own family of brands and in the places they visit, Lion World Travel has chosen to support The Endangered Wildlife Trust's Rhino Project to contribute to the cause. Lion World Travel invites the public to help them reach their goal of 20,000 shares. Please log on to Lion World Travel to participate in the campaign, share the page, and encourage others to do the same!
