HousingWire Launches Unique, Knowledge-Led Digital Platform

The New HW Knowledge Center Aims to Collect, Store and Make Broadly Available a Wide Range of Industry Research and Related Knowledge

DALLAS, TX--(Marketwired - Apr 11, 2014) - HousingWire announced today that it has launched the HW Knowledge Center, an experiment in collecting, storing and making broadly and virtually available a wide range of research and related knowledge associated with the U.S. housing economy.

The HW Knowledge Center will focus on indexing academic research, industry white papers, official analysis, videos and webinars. Content can be housed directly in the Center or at a third party location, allowing for flexibility that respects individual copyright.

The new platform allows for HW's team of editors and other knowledge specialists to catalogue and index a broad range of industry knowledge using a unique semantic searching system similar to the robust search capabilities that drive the search experience on HousingWire.com. Additionally, HW's editorial team members can place items into the Knowledge Center and then reference knowledge content in their own reporting.

"At HousingWire.com, we have over 600,000 pieces of content and semantic tagging of that content is critical to useful searching," said Paul Jackson, CEO and Publisher at HousingWire. "We're applying what we've learned at HousingWire to the Knowledge Center."

"No industry is as important to the U.S. economy than housing, yet no central repository of formal knowledge associated with the industry existed previously," said Jacob Gaffney, Executive Editor at HousingWire. "Editorially, we wanted a centralized place to keep track -- and then we thought: why just keep this to ourselves?"

Contributions to the HW Knowledge Center are welcomed and are free. Instructions on how to submit knowledge to the HW Knowledge Center are available on the Knowledge Center website.

"This effort is starting small, like all things must, and we're committed to growing the Knowledge Center at a smart pace," said HousingWire President Richard Bitner. "But we think over time we'll be able to amass a meaningful set of content distinct from the daily news HousingWire.com reports on that has real value to industry participants."

The HW Knowledge Center is available now, and features some exclusive industry white papers. New content is being added daily. To visit the HW Knowledge Center, please see: http://knowledge.housingwire.com.
