MCLEAN, VA--(Marketwired - Apr 14, 2014) - Perspecsys, the leader in enterprise cloud data protection, today announced Perspecsys AppProtex Mobile, extending its award-winning AppProtex Cloud Data Control Gateway to all mobile users, regardless of browser or mobile device. In the era of bring your own device (BYOD), the Perspecsys AppProtex Mobile solution ensures that no data or files are cached on mobile devices, without limiting users' access or use of their applications.

"For a number of our customers, data residency and privacy requirements have previously been huge barriers to adopting the cloud and the use of mobile devices in this ecosystem only further complicated the situation," said David Canellos, CEO of Perspecsys. "With AppProtex Mobile, Perspecsys is eliminating that obstacle across all classes of devices, and customers are enjoying these benefits right now. The technology is already deployed, ensuring that sensitive data is not cached on personal devices outside of the reach of IT. This level of control eases the process of complying with data privacy and residency regulations."

Perspecsys' AppProtex Cloud Control Gateway enables an enterprise to discover how applications are being used, evaluate cloud usage patterns and identify risky behavior. Most importantly, it replaces sensitive data with random token or encrypted values that are meaningless unless viewed thought the gateway server. Therefore, should anyone intercept the data either in transit or while in the cloud, it is indecipherable. Perspecsys customers retain total ownership of the encryption keys and/or token vault, enabling them to enjoy complete control, which not only helps secure their organization, but also helps them remain compliant with government and industry regulations (both national and international).

When looking at the market implications of mobile security on the enterprise, Ray Wagner, Managing VP, John E. Girard, VP Distinguished Analyst and Dionisio Zumerle, Principal Research Analyst, et al. at Gartner noted, "Security incidents and data breaches deriving from misconfiguration of mobile devices will continue to be the main enterprise mobile security concern. Enterprises will continue to seek tools that can standardize mobile security across platforms. Attention will be placed on enhancing user experience, allowing more user freedom and offering more enterprise apps to compensate for blocking or quarantining of commercial unsupported apps." (1)

Now with Perspecsys AppProtex Mobile, users connect from their mobile devices by authenticating to a hosted application hub. The hub has a directory that includes the personalized set of application links that have been configured by the enterprise's security team for mobile protection. Users connect to their cloud applications from their mobile devices via these links, which ensure that no data is stored on the individual's mobile device. All documents accessed on the device are converted to HTML and are prevented from having their contents cached. The user then has full access to the applications they connect to, but the personal mobile device has been fully secured.
