Panel in Chapel Hill on April 15 Is Part of Women's Leadership Initiative

CHAPEL HILL, NC--(Marketwired - Apr 14, 2014) - The Urban Land Institute (ULI) and the Leonard W. Wood Center for Real Estate Studies will present an inaugural Women in Real Estate panel on Wednesday, April 16, at the Rizzo Conference Center in Chapel Hill.

The program, which is part of a new ULI initiative to raise the number and visibility of women in real estate, will bring together experienced professionals, up-and-coming real estate women, and students from both the University of North Carolina and Duke University. Similar events are being held across the country.

"We plan to explore various topics of interest to women in real estate, including work-life balance, what to consider when choosing a real estate job, and what types of mentors are helpful to women in real estate and where to find them," said Deb Anderson, Wood Partners, L.L.C development director for eastern North Carolina and Virginia, who will be on the panel. Anderson recently served as the executive director for the Leonard W. Wood Center for Real Estate Studies, founded by Wood Partners founder Leonard Wood.

Other panelists are Deb Boucher, a broker with Cassidy Turley; Alison Garcia, portfolio manager for real estate investments for the North Carolina Department of State Treasurer; and Anna Stoddard, director of development for Grubb Ventures. Laura Quinn, an MBA student at North Carolina-Chapel Hill's Kenan-Flagler Business School and a ULI Young Leader, will moderate.

The panel will be interactive and allow for audience participation. It is geared toward young professionals and students, and open to women ULI members and non-members. Check-in for the event is from 5:30 to 6 p.m., and the program is from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. A reception will be held following the panel from 7 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
