Newforma Offers New Mobile Apps to Improve On-the-Go Project Information Management

Because the apps share information with Newforma PIM products used in offices and job trailers, project teams benefit from having up-to-date information wherever they're working.

New are the Newforma® Tasks app, which provides an interactive dashboard for assigning, reviewing, and updating project tasks; the Newforma® Capture app, which provides one place for capturing project data in the field; and the Newforma® Project Email, which provides instant access to emails that team members have filed using Newforma® Project Center PIM software.

Additionally, the company has released a new version of the Newforma® Plans app, which now allows users to create and locate field notes, punch list items, and action items on relevant drawings.

Newforma mobile apps in summary

Tasks

• Manage construction quality control tasks, such as punch lists.
• View past-due or coming-due items for any team member who's been assigned tasks.
• Filter task items by type, status, space, assignee, originator, due date, discipline, and spec section.
• Update statuses, descriptions, locations, and assignments.
• Add a photo, or include one from the Camera Roll.
• View the comment history, or leave a new comment.
• Available now for iPhones and iPads, followed by Android smartphones and tablets later in 2014.

Capture

• Gather construction quality control tasks, such as punch lists.
• Move quickly through the site -- the app stores data locally until it is uploaded, permitting faster captures.
• Define each captured item, where it was observed and, if applicable, who needs to respond, and when.
• Snap, mark up, and attach photos to captured items.
• Upload items to Newforma software at the office or job trailer, where team members can manage captured information and photos.
• Available now for iPhones and iPads, followed by Android smartphones and tablets later in 2014.

Project Email

• View emails and download attachments.
• Search contents and, when connected to the internet, search attachments.
• Reply and forward as needed.
• Use of this app encourages project team members to file email, making it an integral part of the project record.
• Available now on the iPad, iPhone, or Android smartphone and tablet.

Plans

• Zoom and pan documents quickly.
• Mark up and email documents while in the field.
• Create and locate field notes, punch list items, and action items directly on the relevant plan.
• Hyperlink related sheets to one another for quick access and cross-referencing.
• Designate favorite plans for quick access.
• Available now on iPad only.

Compatibility: The apps described above integrate with projects hosted on Newforma® Project Cloud, and with projects hosted by release 10.2 of the company's on-premise software, Newforma Project Center.
