Glendale Resident Wins $2,500 a Week for 20 Years With $5 Lucky Life Scratchers(R) Top Prize Winning Ticket

PHOENIX, AZ--(Marketwired - Apr 15, 2014) - The Arizona Lottery announces the first of two $5 Lucky Life top prize Scratchers tickets has been claimed by a Glendale resident.

Winnie Price, a retired racetrack cashier, purchased her $5 Lucky Life winning ticket from the Fry's located at 6710 W. Bethany Home Road. The ticket turned out to be a top prize winner of $2,500 a week for 20 years. She elected the lump sum option of $1.69 million before taxes.

Winnie purchased three of the $5 Lucky Life tickets from the Lottery vending machine and scratched them while grocery shopping with her sister. As soon as she discovered she had a winning ticket, Winnie yelled for her sister so they could have the ticket checked by the clerk. Winnie was in shock when the clerk confirmed her win and asked her to sign the back of the ticket. She plans to share her winnings with her family and buy a new car.

"Lucky Life has been extremely popular with our players, since each price point offers the highest top prizes ever for Scratchers tickets in Arizona, and they also include a Second Chance Drawing," said Karen Bach, director of budget, products and communications for the Arizona Lottery. "We look forward to presenting more top prize-winning checks to Arizona players in the coming months."

Lucky Life offers a full range of tickets, with a chance to win up to $5,000 a week for 20 years. Winners also can choose a lump sum option. The Lucky Life series includes a Second Chance Drawing for non-winning tickets, with a chance to win up to $100,000.

Players must be 21 years or older to purchase or redeem tickets. Winners have 180 days from the drawing date to claim their prize at an Arizona Lottery office or by mail. Overall odds vary by game.
