ZABRA Selects Dana Hills High School to Kickoff Highly Anticipated Social Media Awareness Program

ZABRA, the Leading Social Media Monitoring Solution for Children and Families, Launches National Program Designed to Inform, Protect, and Reward School Districts Across the United States

CHARLOTTE, NC--(Marketwired - Apr 16, 2014) - ZABRA, the leading online family safety solution has selected Dana Hills High School as the groundbreaking pilot school to kickoff their nationwide cyber awareness and social media protection program. In 2014, school districts across the country will be implementing the ZABRA program in an effort to arm parents and families with the most advanced tools available for effectively parenting, and navigating through, today's intimidating social media landscape.

ZABRA was created to provide support and guidance to parents with children who are, or will be, users of social networks. ZABRA's advanced detection engine flags any questionable content, key words, phrase or acronym in a child's social network account and sends the parent an Alert. ZABRA also offers parents a resource center with expert advice on how to identify and discuss potentially difficult topics with their children, if they arise.

ZABRA founder Paul Adkison said, "Parents need to play an active role in their child's online footprint and help guide them from potential dangers; however, most parents have a false sense of security regarding online dangers and the implication to their children. Our children aren't equipped with the real world skills to deal with the consequences of the information they see, actions they take and things they say while online." Adkison continued, "Parents need new tools to help guide their children and transfer their real world values to the digital world; ZABRA is honored to be working with Dana Hills High School and Capistrano Unified School District in an effort to minimize cyber-risk and reconnect family communication and values."

After aligning with the California Treatment Advocacy Foundation (CalTAF) in 2013 and conducting a powerful town hall on the subject of cyber bullying and parenting in the age of social networking at the Capistrano Valley High School in 2013, ZABRA was so impressed with the district's support and parental involvement that the company selected Dana Hills High School to lead this unique pilot program. ZABRA, CalTAF, and CapoUSD have joined forces once again to develop this program exclusively for the families and schools in the Capistrano Valley District, beginning with Dana Hills High School.

Dana Hills High School Principal Jason Alleman offered, "We are excited to partner with ZABRA to offer families a practical and proven solution to ensure the safety of our students, foster stronger relationships within our greater school community, and teach responsible digital citizenship." Alleman continued, "In a social media climate that is daunting and constantly changing, it is critical that parents have the best possible tools to effectively and safely protect their families; ZABRA is the ultimate tool for the concerned parent. We are proud to align with ZABRA and arm our students and families with the best tools for staying connected and building responsible digital families."

Capistrano Unified School District (CapoUSD) Board Member Anna Bryson said, "As a mother, I fought for many years to protect my children from predatory threats; parenting in the digital age requires an entirely different set of tools. The ultimate parenting tool for keeping a protective eye on social media behavior is ZABRA and I couldn't be more excited about bringing it to our district."

Executive Director of The California Treatment Advocacy Foundation (CalTAF), Phil Greer, said, "After researching the best tools in the world for parents to effectively monitor and protect their families from the internet's underbelly, ZABRA is the absolute finest option for responsible parenting in the digital age."
