How Do Residents of Saskatchewan Want to Celebrate Canada's 150th Birthday?

REGINA, SASKATCHEWAN--(Marketwired - April 17, 2014) - Department of Canadian Heritage

Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages Shelly Glover visited Regina today to meet with community and private-sector representatives of the Regina area for a roundtable discussion on how Canada should celebrate our 150th birthday in 2017. In addition, she invited all Canadians to complete the online questionnaire at Canada.ca/150.

Quick Facts

- Since December 2013, the Government of Canada has held 20 roundtables across the country on the celebrations in 2017. Numerous people who are active in their communities and represent a wide range of organizations or groups were able to make their voices heard.

- So far, nearly 12,000 Canadians have completed the online questionnaire on Canada's 150th anniversary.

- The data collected will provide insight into the types of activities and projects that resonate most with Canadians and will help us plan the celebrations for this important anniversary.

- Over the next three years, as we approach the anniversary, we will celebrate key historic milestones that have helped define our country.

Quotes

"Over the past number of months, Canadians from a variety of backgrounds and communities have told us how they would like to celebrate Canada's 150th birthday. I was pleased to meet today with community leaders from Regina and the surrounding area. The ideas they shared with me will be very helpful in making the celebrations a success and a source of pride for all Canadians."
