SAN ANTONIO, May 8, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Victory Medical Center Landmark is pleased to recognize Dr. Steven Cyr, founder and president of the Orthopaedic & Spine Institute (OSI), who received the San Antonio Business Journal's Healthcare Heroes Award for Excellence in Military Medicine on Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at the McNay Art Museum.
"I have known I wanted to be a doctor since I was four years old and I told my parents I wanted to be a physician," Cyr explained. "There's nothing more rewarding to see a life altered because of your intervention and interaction, seeing them going back to work and having kids. I've been blessed, and it is my responsibility to give back to others."
Cyr, a 1989 East Central High School graduate, served in the air force for 14 years treating injured soldiers. He is the former Chief of Spine Surgery and Spine Surgery Consultant to the Surgeon General of the Air Force. Today he continues to use his expertise in the civilian world as founder of the Orthopaedic & Spine Institute and later the Children's Orthopaedic & Spine Center and HealthCrave Medical Center.
