Bank of America Merrill Lynch Is No. 1 in Asia Research, Money Managers Tell Institutional Investor

Morgan Stanley Climbs to Second Place in Annual Ranking of Sell-Side Analysts

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - May 12, 2014) - Bank of America Merrill Lynch captains the 2014 All-Asia Research Team, Institutional Investor's exclusive annual ranking of the region's best sell-side analysts, for a fourth consecutive year. It secures a spot in all but one of the survey's 33 sectors and is deemed the best in 13 of them.

Complete survey details can be accessed here.

Rising one rung to second place is Morgan Stanley, the only firm in the top five whose team-position total increases this year. It claims a spot in 29 categories, two more than last year, and is on top in seven.

Two firms share the third tier, Credit Suisse and UBS. Their 26-position totals reflect a loss of two spots for the former and one for the latter. Citi rounds out the top five, advancing one level even though its total falls by two, to 22.

Survey results reflect the opinions of roughly 2,940 investment professionals at more than 950 institutions that collectively manage an estimated $1.58 trillion in Asian equities.

BofA Merrill is the first firm to top all four of II's Asia regional surveys in a single year. In addition to heading the All-Asia Research Team, it extends its winning streak on the All-Asia Sales Team to a third year, rises one rung to lead the All-Asia Trading Team for the first time, and for a second year in a row shares the winner's circle with Morgan Stanley on our roster of Asia's Top Corporate Access Providers.
