Wente Vineyards Announces Packaging Redesign for Wine Portfolio

Design Changes Create a Modern, Contemporary Look-and-Feel

LIVERMORE, CA--(Marketwired - May 12, 2014) - Wente Vineyards, the oldest, continuously-operated family owned winery in America, announces a packaging redesign to celebrate its 130th vintage release and give new focus to its Estate Grown and Single Vineyard portfolio of wines.

"As a winery that is being led by fourth and fifth generations of our family, we know the importance of maintaining a fresh and relevant brand in the market," said Carolyn Wente, Fourth Generation Winegrower and Chief Executive Officer of Wente Family Estates. "Our new package design gives us the opportunity to celebrate our 130th vintage release, focus on our Estate Grown portfolio of wines and further differentiate with the addition of Single Vineyard Designates."

The redesign features a contemporary and differentiated design, identifying the wine by Single Vineyard -- meaning 95% of the grapes must come from that single property -- or Estate Grown designations, to support each wine's unique sense of place. The new color palettes for the labels and shippers stand out on-shelf and in-store. Additionally, the Estate Grown label depicts a watermark of the family's historical Cresta Blanca winery, while the Single Vineyard label now provides a signature from Fifth Generation Winemaker Karl Wente to reinforce the brand's positioning. With the package upgrades, the new wine labels are immediately recognizable on store shelves and will appeal to existing fans as well as attract new ones.

Founded in 1883, Wente Vineyards maintains its leadership role in California winegrowing and is proud to be recognized as California's First Family of Chardonnay. Blending traditional and innovative winemaking practices, the winemaking team, led by Karl Wente, draws from approximately 3,000 acres of certified sustainable estate vineyards in the Livermore Valley, San Francisco Bay and Arroyo Seco, Monterey appellations to create an outstanding portfolio of wines.

The new packaging will begin shipping late-May and will be available in retailers nationwide.
