The Maple and its Traditions Celebrated in Saint-Pierre-Baptiste

SAINT-PIERRE-BAPTISTE, QUÉBEC--(Marketwired - May 12, 2014) - Department of Canadian Heritage

The Honourable Christian Paradis, Minister of International Development, Minister for La Francophonie and Member of Parliament (Mégantic-L'Érable) has announced $38,700 in funding for the Festival des sucres de Saint-Pierre-Baptiste. Minister Paradis made the announcement on behalf of the Honourable Shelly Glover, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages.

Funding is provided by the Government of Canada through the Local Festivals component of the Building Communities through Arts and Heritage Program. From May 16 to May 18, residents of Saint-Pierre-Baptiste and surrounding communities will be able to sample maple products and take part in other activities in a festive atmosphere.

• The Festival features local talent, including some 75 artists and 20 artisans, who will present musical and dance performances, children's entertainment and wrought-iron demonstrations.
• The organization has some 120 volunteers to welcome more than 8,000 visitors to the festival.
