Aurora Receives Purchase Order for Decima CD(TM) and Benchmarking Services in Asia

Sale further validates Aurora's technology and provides reference account in multi-billion dollar high-growth market

NORTH VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwired - May 14, 2014) - ACT Aurora Control Technologies Corp. (TSX VENTURE:ACU) is pleased to announce that it has received a purchase order from a leading solar cell manufacturer in Asia for its Decima CD™ inline measurement system. This order was achieved in close cooperation with Aurora's market partner, Hauman Technologies Corp, and will provide a valuable reference installation for the Decima.

Aurora's Decima CD is designed to continuously measure the output of one of the most important steps in cell fabrication - the emitter diffusion process. This step creates the atomic layer in a cell that allows light to be converted into electrical charge, and it also plays a crucial role in the outcome of the fabrication of the cell's metal contacts.

The photovoltaic manufacturing equipment industry, of which measurement and control is a subset, was $1.7 billion last year and is forecast to reach up to $10 billion by 2017. Asia dominates the market for manufacturing equipment, with industry analysts projecting more than 80 percent of solar module production coming from the region in 2014.

This Asian purchase order, with follow-on potential for several more systems, also includes services from Aurora for assessment and optimization of this customer's use of the Decima CD.

"Use of our Decima CD product and services allows manufacturers to reduce or eliminate the production of faulty or sub-par cells through production process optimization and inline control, and this goes directly to their bottom line," said Gordon Deans, Aurora's President & CEO. "Most cell manufacturers operate on razor-thin margins, so any improvement in the yield of high-quality cells can make a significant impact on their profitability."

"Our solar cell manufacturing customers are very quality and profitability conscious," said Allan Lin, VP Semiconductor Division at Hauman. "We are excited to receive this lead order for Aurora's Decima CD, which validates the product and opens the doors for further business in Asia."
