Government of Canada Hails Inauguration of Maskinonge Recreation Centre

MASKINONGÉ, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - June 28, 2014) - Canada Economic Development

The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Infrastructure, Communities and Intergovernmental Affairs and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, welcomes the official inauguration of the newly-renovated recreation centre in the municipality of Maskinongé.

It will be recalled that $500,000 in non-repayable financial assistance was granted for the modernization of this community facility through Canada Economic Development's Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund.

Quick facts

  • The project involved expanding and modernizing the existing municipal recreation centre to make it better able to meet user needs and draw a more varied clientele. The building is today safer, more attractive and more functional.
  • This project, which required the services of local general contractors, subcontractors and specialized labour, helped provide stimulus to the regional construction industry.

Quote

"In supporting this project in Maskinongé, our government is fulfilling its commitment to help improve the quality of life in our communities. I congratulate everyone who contributed, directly or indirectly, to making this project a reality."
