Agoura Hills Dentist Announces Groundbreaking Technology for Dental Crowns

AGOURA HILLS, Calif., July 13, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- According to one Agoura Hills dentist, Dr. John Abajian, dental crowns as the world knows them are about to be a thing of the past. The dentist reports that his Artistic Smiles dental practice is proud to announce the introduction of same day crowns to its patients.

Same day crowns are possible, says Dr. John Abajian, because of the E4D computer that scans the tooth in question and begins the process of creating a new crown for the tooth in a matter of minutes. Not only does this device help to match individual teeth to the shape of surrounding teeth for a more natural fit, he observes, but it also matches the new crown to the color of surrounding teeth.

"Our crowns are constructed from E-max porcelain," said Dr. Abajian. He goes on to say that E-max porcelain is, "the strongest and toughest porcelain material available to dentists to date." Dr. Abajian believes that the scanning capabilities of the E4D computer combined with its carving accuracy are part of the reason it's so hard to find crowns or crown technology that can beat the E4D on the market today.

Another reason Dr. Abajian finds this new technology so exciting is because of the many benefits it offers patients. "Patients lead busy lives," he said. "Traditional crowns require multiple visits over several days to complete. Providing crowns in the course of a single day is infinitely more convenient, saving our patients precious time."

The typical visit for a single day crown will accomplish in a matter of hours what once required two or more visits. The tooth will be prepared for the crown, including the removal of all the damaged pulp from the tooth in the case of a root canal. Then the tooth is scanned by the "Blue Ray" wand. This enters the information into the computer, which in turn generates the design specs.

Nothing is built, however, until Dr. Abajian places his seal of approval and sends the information along to the milling machine, where the crown is built. "The real beauty of this system," claimed Dr. Abajian, "is not the fact that we can now complete crowns within a single day. It's that we can design each crown to match the surrounding teeth in the patient's mouth perfectly. That's something we've never been able to do before. Technology has made it possible."

In addition to crowns, Dr. Abajian offers patients cosmetic dental services, dental implants, tooth whitening, and sedation dentistry. He says he looks forward to the opportunity to explain the many benefits same day crowns have to offer, and encourages interested patients to contact his Agoura Hills, CA office with any questions or concerns.
