Umbra Applied Technologies Introducing the Apex(TM) Digital Joint Implant

SHORT HILLS, NJ--(Marketwired - Jul 15, 2014) - Umbra Applied Technologies (OTC: UATG) has created a product through next generation innovation and initiated a paradigm shift within an industry. The Apex™ Digital Joint Implant is a revolutionary new interphalangeal implant that has put an entire industry on notice. CEO Alex Umbra commented that, "The launch of Apex Digital Joint Implant is yet another milestone in our company's history." The Apex implant is the world's first and only fully ceramic permanent implant that bone will grow to which never needs to be replaced. Apex™ is made of a special biocompatible ceramic material that is stronger than steel, making it the world's first fully ceramic joint implant with which bone will actually grow and adhere to. The stems of the Apex™ implant are bioactive and interact with osteoblasts to promote bone growth and adhesion.

Alex Umbra further stated that, "The successful surgeries involving the Apex Digital Joint Implant is evidence that UAT Bio Tech is on the cutting edge of innovation in product design and development in the biomedical market segment." Compared to stainless steel and other metal implants, the Apex™ is light years ahead. With a metal implant there is a silicon head which over time separates from the titanium or stainless steel head, causing the metal implant to fail. Traditionally these metal implants need to be replaced every 3 to 5 years. UAT's Apex™ implant does NOT use silicon, but rather a highly polished ceramic condyle surface.

The Apex implant signals the launch of next generation implants that will improve the quality of life for patients and fill a need that has until now been relegated to the afterthoughts of design engineers. The specialized ceramic is the first of its kind in medical implants and has far reaching implications in future trauma treatment. When asked about UAT's specialized ceramic, CEO of Intrepid Innovations Chuck Winters answered, "The ceramics and manufacturing process to develop the ceramics is a closely guarded secret however, I believe that the future of skeletal trauma based treatment will be changed forever in just a few short years as a direct result of what our partners over at UAT are doing."
