On July 15, 2014, the United States Patent and Trademark Office issued to Mattersight U.S. Patent Number 8,781,102, entitled Method and System for Analyzing a Communication by Applying a Behavioral Model Thereto.

This is an important and potentially very significant patent for Mattersight as it:

  • Covers all forms of electronic communications, including email, web interactions, digital video and social media (for example, tweets and Facebook posts)
  • Includes behavioral attributes such as distress and personality in the outputs created when analyzing a communication by applying a behavioral model
  • Follows patents previously granted to Mattersight for analyzing telephone communications by applying a behavioral model
