Brandman University School of Extended Education Announces New, Enhanced IT Certification Program

IRVINE, CA--(Marketwired - Aug 4, 2014) - Brandman University's School of Extended Education, one of five schools within Brandman University, well-recognized for its rich history of supporting adult learners, today announced its IT Professional Certificates program. Brandman now offers the highly regarded professional certifications that are required by many business owners and other key decision-makers for specific IT-focused career paths. The program pairs IT-focused training and certifications with business acumen and leadership skill development.

Initial funding for the program came from a Department of Labor grant, in an effort to support the development of well-rounded IT professionals. Brandman's courses are designed to help IT professionals learn to work across several sectors of a business to meet the workforce needs defined by key business leaders across industries.

Employers filling IT positions are increasingly looking for individuals who demonstrate "T" skills -- meaning those with both breadth and depth to their experience and education. The vertical bar of the letter "T" represents the in-depth expertise of one or two specialized disciplines, and the horizontal bar accounts for the broad range of skills and knowledge extending across multiple disciplines. The IT certificate program offered by Brandman is supporting the development of these professionals by giving them the IT experience they need, while also providing soft-skills development -- enabling them to better interact and engage across departments.

Brandman's IT certificate programs are a hybrid of industry-recognized certifications and leadership development. Participants may earn certifications and academic credit, while also obtaining the business insight and leadership skills necessary to thrive in today's workplace environments. IT professional certificate programs include the following:

Mobile Application and Development. Students will participate in a hands-on mobile app development lab with an opportunity to create their own application with the assistance of a certified instructor.

Business Data Analytics and Process Analysis Level 1- Foundations. The student successfully completing this program will attain the Business Process Analytics Level 1 Certificate and a Microsoft MOS Access Certification, upon passing the MOS exam.

Business Data Analytics and Process Analysis Level 2. Successful completion of the program includes Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate in SQL Server 2012 (MCSA) Certification, upon the passing of three Microsoft exams. Students with the MCSA certification may be awarded academic credit toward the Brandman Bachelor of Science in Computer Technology undergraduate degree.

Understanding Cloud Computing. Successful completion of this certificate program provides the student with the necessary training for the industry-recognized certifications CompTIA Cloud Essentials, VMware Certified Professional (VCP) and Red Hat System Administrator (RHCA).

IT Security. Successful completion of this certificate program provides the student with the knowledge required to apply to sit for three of the following certification exams: CompTIA Security+, CompTIA Advanced Security Practitioner (CASP), Computer Hacking Forensics Investigator (CHFI), Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) and Certified Information System Security Professional (CISSP).
