Newforma Launches Cloud-based Contract Administration for Design Firms

Newforma Contract Administration Provides Architects and Engineers With Online and Mobile Tools to Manage CA Workflows

MANCHESTER, NH--(Marketwired - Aug 12, 2014) - Newforma, a project information management (PIM) software company integrating people, projects and processes to transform building and infrastructure project delivery, today announced the availability of a new product that architects and engineers can use to improve collaboration with general contractors and construction managers. Newforma® Contract Administration is a new software-as-a-service (SaaS) offering that provides cloud-based contract administration (CA) for design firms.

"A recurring challenge of building and infrastructure projects has always been how to connect design to construction," said Newforma Vice President of Construction Solutions Dan Conery. "The ideal is to seamlessly transition from the project's design phase to its construction phase. By 'seamlessly transition,' we mean the GC or CM would not have to upload plans and specifications to a project management website, or set up plans and specs on their network. It would be preferable for the design firm to stage the necessary documents in a way that the GC or CM could get to work right away. Another challenge has been to facilitate the vigorous and sometimes contentious collaboration that takes place during construction. Newforma Contract Administration addresses both of these challenges, and more."

On a secure, cloud-hosted website, Newforma Contract Administration provides design firms with the most commonly used CA functions to manage and track construction documents, RFIs, submittals, and field information. To improve the handoff from design to construction, general contractors and construction managers may then license Newforma® Project Cloud to manage their subcontractors. The design team's use of Newforma Contract Administration pre-populates a Newforma Project Cloud website with construction documents, bid-phase RFIs and project contacts for the use of the general contractor or construction manager.

In addition to streamlining submittal and RFI workflows, Newforma Contract Administration avoids disputes over whose log is correct, because the entire project team works from one authoritative record. The single source eliminates redundant data entry, saving time and reducing the risk of errors.

Integration with Newforma mobile apps
Like other Newforma PIM products, Newforma Contract Administration integrates with the company's mobile apps to manage field activities such as the viewing of plans and the management of punch lists and non-compliance items.

Availability
Newforma Contract Administration is available for use as a standalone product or as an add-on to Newforma® Project Center, the company's behind-the-firewall solution for project information management across the enterprise.

Initially, Newforma Contract Administration is available in North America only.
