Supporting the 2014 Senior Pan American Gymnastics Championships: Gymnastics Canada Receives Government of Canada Funding to Host International Event


MISSISSAUGA, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - Aug. 14, 2014) - Canadian Heritage

The Honourable Bal Gosal, Minister of State (Sport), today announced $125,000 in funding for Gymnastics Canada. This funding, provided through Sport Canada's Hosting Program, supports the 2014 Senior Pan American Gymnastics Championships, which will be held at the Hershey Centre in Mississauga from August 19 to September 1, 2014.

  • The 2014 Senior Pan American Gymnastics Championships is a qualification event for the Toronto 2015 Pan American Games. It will determine which gymnasts will compete in rhythmic gymnastics, trampoline, and men's and women's artistic gymnastics at the Games next summer in Toronto and the Greater Golden Horseshoe region.
  • Sport Canada's Sport Support Program is providing up to $1.3 million to Gymnastics Canada during the 2014-2015 fiscal year.
  • Sport Canada's Athlete Assistance Program provided $655,100 to 46 Canadian gymnasts to assist with living, training and tuition expenses in 2013-2014.
