BC Lotto Max Ticket Worth $50 Million Remains Unclaimed

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwired - Aug. 14, 2014) - Lottery players should be checking their pockets, secret hiding places and couch cushions to see if they hold the $50 million winning ticket. The prize remains unclaimed five months after a ticket sold in Langley, B.C. matched all seven numbers on the March 14 Lotto Max draw.

BCLC estimates the winner would have accrued approximately $375,000 from an estimated $2,500 per day in interest.

"There are many reasons why a winner may have not come forward," explained Susan Dolinski, VP of Social Responsibility and Communications at BCLC. "Winners often consult with a financial advisor or a lawyer to sort out their personal affairs, informing family members, or they may be on vacation."

A second outstanding ticket for $13,688,924.40 was sold in the Juan de Fuca/Malahat area on the August 2, 2014 Lotto 6/49 draw also remains unclaimed.

"We encourage anyone who purchased a ticket for either of these draws to check their tickets," added Dolinski.

Winners have one year from the draw date printed on the ticket to claim their prize. No top lottery prize on Lotto Max or Lotto 6/49 has ever gone unclaimed in B.C.
