Burns & McDonnell and Zachry Industrial to Design and Construct Major Terminal Expansion for Phillips 66

HOUSTON, TX--(Marketwired - Aug 14, 2014) -  BMZ Export Terminal Partners (BMZ), a joint venture partnership of Burns & McDonnell Engineering and Zachry Industrial, Inc. (Zachry), has signed a contract with Phillips 66 (NYSE: PSX) to provide a range of engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services for a project at Phillips 66's existing terminal facility in Freeport, Texas. The project will expand Phillips 66 storage and ship loading capacity for natural gasoline, butane and propane exports. Burns & McDonnell and Zachry have a 15-year history of teaming together on major energy projects.

Phillips 66 approved the Freeport terminal expansion project in February 2014 as part of the company's strategy to grow its Midstream business in response to rapidly increasing global demand for U.S.-supplied natural gas liquids products. The project will create liquid propane gas export capacity of 4.4 million barrels per month, or the equivalent of eight very large gas carriers, with a maximum ship loading rate of 36,000 barrels/hour.

BMZ has already begun design, procurement and early construction services. Phillips 66 continues to work with the appropriate agencies to secure necessary permits for the project and full construction efforts will commence once all permits are approved. Currently, more than 150 Burns & McDonnell engineers and technical staff are dedicated to the project and, during peak construction, approximately 800 Zachry employees will be working at the job site.
